Richard Mille and McLaren have been in partnership since 2016, and with their shared passion for modern technology, cutting-edge design and precision engineering, they have launched a series of watches that combine racing elements with advanced watchmaking craftsmanship. The relevant introduction is as follows:
RM 50-03: Launched in 2017, it was the world's lightest double-chase tourbillon chronograph at the time, weighing only 40 grams including the strap. It uses high-tech materials such as titanium alloy and Carbon TPT® carbon fiber, and the new Graph TPT® graphene material is also used in the case.
RM 11-03 McLaren: Released at the Geneva International Motor Show in 2018. The case is made of Carbon TPT® carbon fiber and orange Quartz TPT® quartz carbon fiber, equipped with titanium alloy buttons, echoing the unique headlight design of the McLaren 720S supercar. The titanium inlay that adorns the bezel bears the McLaren logo and is shaped like the air intakes of the classic McLaren F1 car. The McLaren Speedmark logo is integrated into the rubber strap.
RM 40-01 McLaren Speedtail: Launched in the first half of 2021, it pays tribute to the McLaren Speedtail road car. The lines of the watch imitate the shape of a teardrop, the grooves on the bezel echo the openings in the hood, and the operating buttons are reminiscent of the air outlets behind the front wheels. The platinum and red gold winding rotor is inspired by the hood of the Speedtail sports car, and the barrel design is derived from its roof line. The movement presents a curve from 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock, which is wide at the top and narrow at the bottom, similar to the brushed metal outer edge between the cockpit and the shell of a sports car. The orange line extending from the bottom of the movement to the strap imitates the vertical brake lights on the rear windshield of the Speedtail.
