Growing Awareness and Acceptance of Infertility
· The major changes that have taken place in the fertility market are increasing consciousness concerning infertility among the population and its solution. There are many features that have led to this shift and some of them are education, social media platforms and health awareness campaigns.
· Many are welcoming infertility a medical problem rather than a personal issue that can be controlled by the couples. Becoming informed about infertility has been highly attributed to public awareness campaigns that are being conducted through the government as well as insurance providing health care facilities.
· Earlier people used to hide their childless status but due to famous personalities coming forward and speaking about their issue of infertility and IVF treatment, the tabu about fertilization treatments is now no more.
· Moreover, fertility education has become easier to access due to the influence of the Internet and application-based consultations and AI-enabled fertility monitoring. Some corporate health programs are also extending their direct support by including infertility management in their health care benefits thus making it more common for everyone.
Medical Tourism Growth in Fertility Services
Growing Potential of Medical Value Travel (MVT), on 04 February 2025, PIB Delhi, Ministry of Tourism
India’s Medical Value Travel (MVT) sector is witnessing significant growth. The market, valued at USD 2.89 billion in 2020, is projected to reach USD 13.42 billion by 2026, driven by increasing foreign patient arrivals seeking high-quality and cost-effective treatment.
· Medical tourism has now become a significant segment of the medical industry, and it is noted that India is fast becoming the most preferred fertility tourism destination. The reason that forces international patients to look for help in India are a high success rate, relatively lower costs, and eminent fertility specialists.
· The cost of IVF, ICSI and other ARTs is cheaper in India than developed countries of the west, thus a cheaper destination for childless couples. At the Fertilityworld center the IVF price in India is lower and affordable ranging from Rs. 1.20 lakhs to Rs. 2.20 lakhs for Indian couples and (4500-6000 USD for international patients in Delhi, India) with self-cycle to donor-cycle IVF program with intervals of IVF cost-breakup.
· The demand for medical services in this sector is due to the availability of modern fertility clinics equipped with the latest technologies. Most clinics have aligned themselves with international organizations to adopt better and more effective fertility treatment technology thus boosting the chances of success.
· In this regard, the centers perform surrogacy and egg donation in India have gained a legal approval and many international patients prefer to come to India for such treatments.
· In addition, due to the increase of digital healthcare services including teleconsultations, other fertility tourists can begin the treatment processes online. Foreign patients are provided with an all-round medical tourism package that is made up of organizing visa, accommodation and post treatment services in rendering health services to Indian clinics. Further anticipated that this sector is going to have a fast growth rate, putting India as a global leader in the fertility services sector.
Expansion in Access to Fertility Treatments
· Earlier, fertility procedures in India were relatively restricted to the metros, putting out of bounds for the people in tier-2 and 3 cities. But in the recent past, there has been an increase in the number of fertility clinics in the third tier and lower cities which has eliminated this barrier. The main reason for this is the position of private healthcare companies to invest more in the facilities and the need for such a service to extend to the rural area.
For instance, in November 2024, India IVF secured USD 1.25 million in pre-Series A funding from Tomorrow Capital, a USD 100 million venture capital fund dedicated to supporting early-stage, transformative consumer healthcare businesses. This equity funding is India IVF’s first external fund since its ten-year exclusive operations across five north Indian centers with clinics in Delhi NCR and Srinagar.
· The accessibility of fertility services, due to rise in investment, strategic partnership, making clinics affordable and setting up clinics in tier-II and tier-III cities and cities, along with EMI options for pay has increased the demand of fertility treatments in India. Family building is also favored by technological progress, artificial intelligence in fertility, as well as the support of governments.
